A historic Estate situated on the beautiful Isle of Purbeck

Home to The Blue Pool Nature Reserve & Tearooms, The Furzebrook Estate represents one of the most ecologically diverse habitats in the United Kingdom. A Site of Special Scientific Interest and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Estate consists of rolling meadows, rare heathland, ancient woodland, lakes and waterways with many rare species of plant and animals.

Due to the Estates rich mining heritage and the historical production of blue Ball Clay for distribution around the world, the land has a complex topography making it unsuitable for farming but consequently perfect for nature.

In acknowledgement of its uniqueness, the Estate was Designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1985 well before environmental issues became popular concern.

The Furzebrook Estate which incorporates The Blue Pool Nature Reserve & Tearooms is hugely important to the local area, not just for its historical value but as a haven for wildlife.

Environmental Projects

The Furzebrook Estate Team conducts many environmental projects, we have introduced natural grazing with wild ponies, bee hives to pollinate and wild-boar to regenerate the soil.
